Anxiety and Sadness Talking Therapy
Anxiety and persistent sadness are natural human reactions to stress, change, or loss.
But when these feelings become overwhelming or interfere with daily life, they may indicate an emotional imbalance.
Therapy can provide a safe, confidential space to explore these experiences, reduce their intensity, and develop practical tools to manage them.
What is Anxiety & Sadness?
Anxiety and sadness can affect both mind and body.
Common physical signs:
- Muscle tension or aches
- Difficulty sleeping
- Restlessness or fatigue
- Digestive discomfort
Emotional and mental signs:
- Persistent worry or intrusive thoughts
- Low mood or irritability
- Difficulty concentrating
- Feeling disconnected from joy or purpose
When to Seek Support
You may benefit from therapy if you experience:
- Anxiety that is out of proportion to your current situation
- Low mood that does not improve over time
- Ongoing physical tension or pain linked to stress
- Trouble sleeping or a recurring sense of dread
- Difficulty coping with life changes or transitions
- Pre/Post-operation anxiety – many clients find themselves feeling anxious or fearful before and after medical procedures. Therapy can help you prepare emotionally, reduce stress responses, and support your recovery.
My Therapeutic Approach
I use a holistic, integrative style of talking therapy. This means we work with both the mind and the body, recognising how emotional stress often shows up physically.
Together, we will:
- Identify patterns in thoughts, emotions, and behaviours
- Explore how past experiences may be shaping your present
- Learn calming tools such as breathing exercises
- Release tension through guided body awareness and relaxation techniques
- Build practical coping strategies for everyday life
What to Expect in a Session
Each session lasts an hour and is tailored to your needs.
A typical process includes:
- Initial Consultation – Together we will gently discover where you have trapped anxiety and sadness in your mind and body
- Session Work – combining supportive conversation with mind-body techniques such as using metaphors to explain how you feel (this is often a better approach than trawling through painful past events) coupled with physical and mental relaxation techniques
- Review – checking in on your progress and adjusting the focus as needed.
Sessions can be in-person in West Kirby or online via Zoom.
