Massage for the Elderly
Gentle massage has a very beneficial effect on conditions such as muscle and joint stiffness and soreness, loss of flexibility, arthritis, and high blood pressure.
Gentle massage helps to increase the local blood circulation and lymphatic circulation. Massage also warms up and relaxes the area worked on.
It also provides a sense of nurturing that comes from being gently and respectfully massaged.
A stiff neck and tight shoulders welcome a gentle massage and the calming effect mentally is wonderful to see.
Very frail or modest clients can benefit just as much from a foot, hand or face massage.
The Benefits Of Massage
For older age groups the importance of receiving a regular massage is very beneficial, as it is a way to counteract the effects of sitting or lying down for long periods.
Gentle Massage helps to counteract episodes of poor health and ongoing issues to do with mobility aiding both the mind and body.
For bed-bound patients I am happy to offer mobile massage therapy to help you with muscle stiffness and reduce stress levels, making you more relaxed and aiding flexibility. I often work on elderly clients when they are sitting relaxed in their favourite chair.
Also I think the company of someone is a great help to many of my patients as a number are prone to episodes of isolation where they can go for a number of days where they can not get out or get to see their families who increasingly have to lead busy lives.
As a professional Massage Therapist I like to also educate about the benefits of relaxation and massage.
Consultations & Sessions
During a Massage Therapy, we will look at where you are in your life at the present moment, breaking it down into different areas and into percentages. We then discuss where you would like to be in those different areas in the near future and how you would like to gently start making the changes. A session lasts an hour and costs £45.
